Geography
Cymrja is a land of contrasts, in it can be found rolling green pastures, small idyllic fishing villages and forgotten valleys, dark and shrouded in mist and forest. Also there are the feared Boarback mountains, huge granite monstrosities, with Cym Alladd as the highest peak. Cymrja , like Caledonia has many mines, however it is gold and precious metals that are found here, much of Celtic wealth coming from the island. The whole matter of whether or not Cymrja is an island is a contentious one, certainly it is joined to Albion, however the channel, simply referred to as 'The Channel' acts as a natural demarcation. The channel is a mile wide, and whilst it is certainly easy to cross, there is a sensation say Cymrjans, that once half way over- you are not in your land. That, more than any barrier has kept the natural border, and indeed the neighbouring countries have had no strife, the river being plentiful in fish, and both countries having more or less cordial relationships. In shape Cymrja appears as a large horseshoe, ends pointing south. Within this 'pincer' of land lies the island of Cymdubh, like a malignant cancer on the green and beautiful Cymrja. More on Cymdubh later, for it has a special place in the lands of the Celts.
People
Cymrja is the land of spirituality, much is symbolic here, and the people seem to have a quiet sense of their place in the Gods schemes. They are not as quick to anger as the Caledonians, or as quick to laugh as the Erinians, But whatever they do, they take their time and do properly, a Cymrjan who hates will do so implacably, one who fights will do so till their last breath. They are a resilient people, having suffered many traumas, and they never forget. That said, they are a happy people, interested in new ideas, and possessed of a love of learning, this may explain, or be explained by- the fact that of all druids in the faction, most hail from Cymrja, it is a very magickal place. The people here also love song and skill at arms, placing more emphasis on the skill than on strength alone. Their culture is tribal, with large tribes making up the most of the populace, each tribe ruling an area of the country called a Cantrev, the ruling tribe throughout all of history being the Pengellen, and it is from this tribe that the Prince hails, the Prince in Cymrja bearing the title 'Dragon'
The Tribes
Cymrja's peoples are divided along tribal lines, there are no Clans descended from a founder, rather Cymran names come from one's given name , then ap (a patronymic denoting 'son of') or mab (a matronymic denoting 'daughter of') followed by the name of one's father, hence names such as Morgan ap Gwneddyn- Morgan, son of Gwneddyn, as the surname changes with every generation, regional differences form the tribes, they include; the Pengellen- traditionally the rulers of Cymrja, the Brigante- fearsome warriors and seafarers, the Plant Rho-Fhessa- delvers into arcane spiritual knowledge and a tribe of many druids, the rest of the population are Silures, whose members are impossible to pin down to a stereotype, they provide warrior, bard and druid alike, and many noted craftsmen and village elders.
Wildlife
The Wildlife in Cymrja generally is more sedate than Caledonia, it does have the distinction however of having, in numbers the most terrifying creature known in all three countries- the Canaris. Aside from the typical big cats, boars stags and bears, it also is the dwellling place for the Aurochs, a huge ox, easily taller than a man and thrice as long as a horse. A single aurochs can feed a village for a month, and Cymrja has never had any trouble with food shortages. The horses bred in Cymrja are the best in the isles, extremely swift and unerringly sure footed, even rumoured to be able to ride at night. More creatures may yet dwell here as it is well known that like Erin's forests, much of Cymrja's deep valleys have never been explored.
Major Exports
Trouble ( of the rambling druid variety) Vodka, gold, jewels, food, big strapping boyo's with hammers, close harmony male choir singing and druids
Places of Note
The Premier castle in Cymrja is Caer Pengellen, and this is the seat of the Dragon, until a King be Cymrjan, when the Year King resides here instead. It is a magnificent, many walled structure, three external walls containing a town within, at the centre lies the fortress itself. The secondary castle is Caer Llandain, currently housing the head of the Dragons's warbands, Owain ap Maeldun.
The chief ritual circles are Llanfair, Cad Gadridd, Gorseon, Siofw Mawr and the most obscure and odd- Afwlwn.
Major towns and villages are Caer Dyff, Llareggub and Mynci.
Associated peoples
Neighbouring Cymrja is the Elven Isles. On these islands dwell many non humans, mainly elves, as would be expected. To the Fir Cruthen they lend their fearsome rangers, the Knights of Llwydyr, elven horseback archers and a couple of shock units of trolls and ogres. They are ruled by Duke Quij Blondenross, the Prince of Elves. He is a short elf, yet almost maniac in his ferocity, and a puissant mage to boot.
Within the land of Cymrja are the 'wee folk' . Somewhat euphemistically named, these 'wee folk' tend to average at about six foot three and the build of an ox. The name they call themselves is strange to the celtic tongue, the closest pronunciation they have been able to arrive at is 'Maori' These people are a happy race, they were here when the celts arrived- and have never been anywhere else, they regarded the new race as interesting and watched them grow, the Maori's are in a slight decline, however links between celt and maori are if not good, at least benevolently neutral. Currently the King of the Maori's has sent an ambassador to the Fir Cruthen in the shape of Twiggamalah, a shaman of no small ability, and he journeys with the King's host.
